11/7/06 - Holiday Sales!

The store is full of greeting cards and paintings, and this year you can buy online with credit and debit cards, allowing me to send your cards instantaneously.

This year I have two sets of Christmas cards and two sets of blank, all-season cards. The new "Four Seasons" set is based on the wisdom of seasonal cycles. Black and white designs were cut with an Exacto knife from a single sheet of black paper and have strong lines reminiscent of wood-block prints. "Alaric’s Art" cards come from my seven-year-old friend Alaric’s wacky and wonderful drawings. (The proceeds from these sales will also support his artist fund.) Mix-and-mach to make your own set of favorite designs.

Painting Sale:

New work and reduced prices to clear out my studio. E-mail me to set up shipping and payment for paintings; you can also pay by credit card through a paypal account.

10/2/06 - Alaric's Art showing in Northwest Portland

These vibrant paintings started as drawings made by my friend Alaric. He was five, and we were sitting on his living room floor trading pictures with each other. I was so enthralled with his drawings that I blew them up and painted them brightly so that other adults could admire them. Alaric lives in Milwaukie with his mother, loves comic books, and frequently builds little creatures out of things he finds.

Meet the Artists!

Friday, October 6, 5:00-7:00
San Sai Japanese Grill

Portland, OR 97209

Show remains up through November.

7/6/06 - My next art show will open at the B-Street Gallery in Northwest Portland, during the Pearl District's First Thursday art walk. Stay tuned for more details.

6/1/06 - Just to ensure that the left side of the brain still works, this winter I have been developing a business plan for my freelance career. This outlines my financial and creative goals for the next five years. Feel free to browse and give feedback on my overview.

5/1/06 - New stuff on the website makes it easier to buy art! Highlight include: Pay-pal account which means you can buy cards and prints online (starting in October); a quote request form for potential buyers to fill out, and an updated page on what's for sale now. I have also added a teaching page so that you can follow what I'm doing in the community. Lots of thanks to graphic designer James Sitzer for his web help (www.jamessitzer.com)

3/9/06 - I have started an artist residency at Lot Whitcomb Elementary in Southeast Portland. Working with fourteen classes of K-3rd graders, we are making GIANT PAPER MOSAICS! These Aztec-inspired creatures are 3 x 3.5 feet big and will be installed in their school. See more on the teaching page.

11/10/05 - *HOLIDAY CARDS FOR SALE!* This fall, I have fallen in love with paper cutting--using an exacto knife to cut line drawings out of black paper. The 2005 "Silent Cards" illustrate some of my favorite carol lyrics with this technique. They are simple and peaceful and I hope they make you smile. I am selling this set and the Christmas Calligraphy set via mail-order. Print off the order form here.

10/12/05 - For the next ten days, I will be drawing and writing on the shore of a cerulean blue lake in the Cascade Mountain Range of Central Oregon. Through the generosity of Caldera, a non-profit arts organization that fosters creativity among underserved youth and adults, and Oregon Literary Arts, I have been awarded a private residency that will allow me to create without interruption. Learn about Caldera at www.calderaarts.org.

9/1/05 - School starts! Augustana Academy is an after-school arts and music program serving 3rd through 8th graders in NE Portland. As a returning teacher and new co-director, I will be teaching fabulous classes such as Game Laboratory, Art and the Media, and Theater Games. www.augustana.org/academy

5/05 - Grand opening of the Opal Rose Gallery in La Grande, OR, a small town nestled at the feet of the Blue Mountains on the edge of the fertile Grande Ronde Valley. Oil paintings and collages are on display and for sale indefinitely at 1315 Adams Avenue, Downtown La Grande.

3/05 - The Children’s Cancer Association’s annual report is designed to look like a children’s book. The charcoal illustrations I did for this year’s report are tribute to their patient heroes. I also designed a logo for their Music Rx On-Call Palliative Care program. See more on the illustration page.

2/1/05 - Thanks to web master Damon Eckhoff, addiekay.com is a reality! This will make my artwork visible to a greater number of people, and help market to potential buyers, gallery curators, and businesses in need of illustrators. This year I will be working on a system to sell greeting cards and prints through the website. I would love your feedback!

1/15/05 - “Slivers of Portland” closes after 2 ½ successful months. I was able to sell a number of paintings and donate $150 to SCRAP, my favorite business.

10/30/04 - “Slivers of Portland,” featuring recent paintings and collages, opens at Keystone Gallery. This show is a collaboration with SCRAP (The School and Community ReUse Action Project), and 20% of art sales will go to them. Since SCRAP preaches creative reuse, all the art in this show uses recycled materials. more...
